Music 6 Writing assignment 2
Writing assignment 2, due Nov. 13, is to write about a single piece, from any
of the listening reserves for week 1 through 5 (introduction through computers
and digital audio). Again limiting yourself to 500 words (more or less),
address at least three of these five possible aspects:
- How does the technology used in the piece relate with the way the piece works
musically?
- Are there different layers of sound and how do they fit together?
- How is the piece organized in time? For example, how does the ending relate to
the rest of the piece? Is it in sections? etc.
- How are sounds being manipulated, and what is the purpose of the manipulations?
- Is there a relationship between the sound sources used and the
musical aims of the piece?
For full credit, use appropriately chosen keywords and key concepts from the
web notes for weeks 1 through 5.
